Kimberly Lavelle Fine Art An excerpt from an article in Baily's Hunting Directory "Kimberly Lavelle (www.kimberlylavelle.com) is an award-winning artist based in Colorado. We asked Kimberly how she starts developing a new work on a blank canvas taking inspiration from photos. It seems her favourite place to begin a new work featuring a horse, hound and, as we find out below perhaps an elephant or ever a barn cat, is to begin her watercolour portraits with the eyes, gaining a connection with her subject through them, allowing the painting to evolve around them. Kimberly is able to capture the sou If ulness and varied expressions that can be found in a hound's eye, or the mischievous nature, perhaps some would describe it as cunning, in her portraiture of a fox. But as we see she can also capture the movement and the action of a day with horse and hound in the hunt field.
Kimberly has the ability to provide her audience with the 'sense' of all things related to hunting from the hounds and horses to the foxes and varied hunting scenes and thereby allowing the audience to almost experience the sights and sounds of a hunting day from the comfort of their home. It is perhaps because of this that Kimberly's work is highly appreciated by those 'in the know' ."
